How Big Was 2017 for Single Payer?

December 20, 2017

How big was 2017 for the single-payer healthcare movement? We’ve hit the highest level of support in the HISTORY of Congress. Share this incredible graphic on Facebook and on Twitter!

The Healthcare-NOW Education Fund also today published a timeline of single-payer legislation in Congress, with info on every national healthcare bill introduced since the 1930s, along with hundreds of pages of Congressional testimony:

Did you know that Republican Jacob Javits introduced a single-payer bill to Congress from 1969-1972? Or that when Rep. Jim McDermott introduced his American Health Security Act in 1993, a single-payer proposal, it received only a handful fewer sponsors than Bill and Hillary Clinton’s failed “Health Security Act”? That major pushes for national healthcare were mounted by President Harry Truman in the 1940s and by Senator Ted Kennedy in the 1970s?
